Why teach Music?
At Bude Primary Academy Juniors, the teaching and learning of music is very important as we recognise that exposure to different genres of music and the opportunities to play instruments can transform children's lives. We aim to deliver a music curriculum that is accessible to all and one that enables children to reach their full potential. We aim to provide all children with the knowledge and tools needed in order to progress through KS2 and to allow pupils to transition to secondary school as confident and well-rounded musicians. We hope that our children will enjoy music through delivering lessons that are engaging and exciting. We aim for all of our children to make sustained progress and succeed in spite of background or ability. We strive hard to make sure music is a well-loved subject and that all members of Bude Primary Academy Juniors speak highly of it.
How do we teach Music?
At Bude Primary Academy we teach music primarily through weekly music lessons using the Charanga scheme. Music is also taught through project work where appropriate. In addition to this, Year 5 are currently having whole class keyboard lessons taught by a specialist.
Throughout the course of a week we have a whole school music assembly, often with live instrumentation. We offer 1-1 music lessons for guitar, woodwind, keyboard with violin lessons commencing in the second part of the Autumn term. We also have an after school choir club and a lunchtime band club.
