We have such an exciting final half term planned, finishing with a fantastic trip to Exeter Museum

Our project is called Emperors and Empires -

In the Emperors and Empires project, your child will learn about the growth and decline of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. They will discover the absolute power of the Roman emperors and study the hierarchies of Roman society and the Roman army. They will study the first invasions of Britain in 55 and 54 BC and the Roman conquest of Britain in AD 43. They will learn about Boudicca’s rebellion, Hadrian’s Wall and the Romanisation of Britain, including how Christianity came to Britain and investigate the legacy of Roman Britain in their local area.

PE continues to be on Mondays and Tuesdays. Remember to bring water bottles daily, sun cream as needed and clothing for changeable summer weather!!!!

Home learning Spelling will keep going home Weekly, given on a Monday for a test the following Monday. There may occasional maths to consolidate learning that has happened in class.

The different functions of their different parts, how water moves through a plant and how seeds are made and dispersed.
In English, we are learning to write persuasive letters and are thinking about  some of the serious issues that are facing our World and how we might persuade people to make different choices.
In Maths, we are learning about fraxctions.

We will carry on with our EXPLORER READING CHALLENGE and a good aim is to hear and discuss reading 4-5 times a week. We are seeing this have such a huge impact on the children's confidence, skill and enjoyment in reading. What you do really is making a difference - thank you!

Spring 2

We hope you had a fantastic February half term. This half term, we begin our Tribal Tales project. This is an exciting and enlightening project, which takes us through prehistory from the Stone Age to the Bronze Age and ending in the Iron Age. Among other things, we place the various periods in prehistory on a timeline, we study the development of agriculture and how the use of tools changed and advanced.  We research different monuments, both local to us and further afield, like Warbstow Bury and Stonehenge.

Take a moment to step outside and stand quietly and still. Turn off all your technology and try to forget the modern world. Imagine this place 5000 years ago. What would you have seen? Head back to prehistoric times to gather berries and hunt down dinner. Unearth ancient objects and visit astonishing mystical monuments that reveal the secrets of an ancient time. Learn how the people of Britain developed over thousands of years, from the Stone Age to the Roman invasion.

As part of our learning, we are going to develop how we work as a tribe!

Library day is Friday

We will carry on with our EXPLORER READING CHALLENGE and a good aim is to hear and discuss reading 4-5 times a week. We are seeing this have such a huge impact on the children's confidence, skill and enjoyment in reading. What you do really is making a difference - thank you!

Home learning will be given every other week and will consist of maths precision sheets. You do not need to write on these, but instead, practise them regularly together. Try to improve accuracy, speed and confidence :-)

Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year!

We are continuing our Rocks, Relics and Rumbles project and will delve into the formation of fossils as well as broadening our understanding of rocks and their uses. We will be looking at soils, what they are made from and how they may differ.

In history, we will look at Mary Anning and also, Pompeii. In geography, we will delve further into physical geography and after finishing volcanoes, we will look at Earthquakes and Tsunamis.

PE days this half term are Tuesday and Fridays. Please try to hear your child read 4- 5 times a week.
